1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.
I chose to watch Late Gothic Art and Architecture: England, 1400-1547 because I enjoy the gothic architecture and art works. The buildings included realistic sculptures and artwork as well as intricate vaulted ceilings.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
BBC How Art Made The World 1 - More Human Than Human: The key concepts that I learned fromt his film were the origins of the Egyptian art form. The unrealistic proportions that were driven by primal instincts and fertility. The two-dimensional paintings were explained very well and the reasons why they painted that particular way. Art was exaggerated in the beginning because of
Late Gothic Art and Architecture: England, 1400-1547: The key concepts I learned were about pointed vaulted ceilings. The look in very important and displays unique attributes.They used ribs to reinforce the structure.
3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos help add to the readings in the textbook. The different styles of vaulted ceilings and structures.
4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
I really enjoyed the films, especially the BBC guy's demo of how the Egyptians created their art and why.
